Day 1 (1/6/2025)

Focus: Fasting
Theme: Aligning with God through fasting

Scriptures: Matthew 6:16-18, Isaiah 58:6, & Joel 2:12

Matthew 6:16-18
16 “When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show others they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 17 But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, 18 so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."

Isaiah 58:6
6 “Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?"

Joel 2:12
12 “Even now,” declares the Lord, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.”

Today's Prayer
Heavenly Father, as I begin this fast, I dedicate myself to You fully. Teach me the purpose of fasting and help me to align my heart, mind, and body with Your will. May this fast draw me closer to You, breaking every chain that holds me back from spiritual growth. Purify me, Lord, and reveal areas in my life that need Your transformation. I pray for strength to persevere and for clarity to hear Your voice more clearly. Let this be a time of renewal and deep connection with You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Reflection Questions
1. What specific distractions or habits do I need to let go of during this fast to draw closer to God?

2. How do I want my relationship with God to change by the end of this fasting period?
