Our Pastor
Soft spoken, unassuming, caring, compassionate, pastor, preacher, and servant-leader! Pastor Mitchell is the voice, the face and the vision caster for the people of Tabitha Baptist Church. Born December 7, 1961 to the late Mr. Melvin Mitchell and Mrs. Yvonne Johnson, he is the second of four preaching sons. He is a 1984 graduate from the historic black, Langston University, and he has studied at Southwestern Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.
His preaching, his teaching, his love for people, his tender heart and his desire to minister to the “whole man” makes him God’s man for this season. Pastor Mitchell is not limited in service just to Tabitha, but he is committed to denominational and civic work, and many community initiatives. He believes in championing causes that speak to the needs of all people.
Jeffrey Lynn Mitchell Pastor Mitchell responded to the call to preach the gospel at the tender age of 22. Before accepting the awesome assignment to Pastor the Tabitha Church, Pastor Mitchell served three (3) years as Assistant to the Pastor at the Fairview Baptist Church under the dynamic leadership of Pastor J.A. Reed, Jr.
In March of 1992, Pastor Mitchell assumed the helm as Servant-Leader of the Tabitha Church. For 22 years, He has faithfully attended to the spiritual needs of the people God has chosen him to lead. His preaching, his teaching, his love for people, his tender heart and his desire to minister to the “whole man” makes him God’s man for this season. Pastor Mitchell is not limited in service just to Tabitha, but he is committed to denominational and civic work, and many community initiatives. He believes in championing causes that speak to the needs of all people.
Pastor Mitchell is a devoted husband, father and grandfather to Rhonda, his wife; to Kelvin, ShaRhonda, and Jerrod, his children; and to Kori, Kameron, Kingston, Colby, and Kaliesha, his grandchildren. His family is his greatest joy. They work together assisting him in propelling the gospel in this city, state and even across the length and breast of this nation. In his spare time, Pastor Mitchell enjoys reading, going to the movies and watching sports. He is a die-heart Oklahoma Sooner Football Fan and a Dallas Cowboy Football Fan.
